Manitoba Education and Advanced Learning announces the following workshop for lead instructors in Manitoba School Divisions:
Train the Trainers Workshop: An Introduction to ArcGIS Online (Session 2)
Thursday, April 21st, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm

This workshop is for those consultants/teachers that attended session 1 on January 27, 2016 or one of the ManACE SAGE sessions from 2014 or 2015 called “An Introduction to ArcGIS Online”.
MapToLearn (Pat & Rod) are again pleased to offer this 2nd session on “ArcGIS Online in the Classroom”. Our learning goals are:
Learning Goals
1. Opportunity for individual work with ArcGIS online applying what has been learned to create a map and an app, when appropriate, with one or more purposes:
- Allows you to continue to practise the mapping skills with our support.
- Prepare a map that can be used as an exemplar as you share and teach the mapping skills with your colleagues and/or students.
- Prepare a map that connects to the learning targets in your curriculum/discipline.
If you wish to include photos in your map, you will need to be sure that your images are available online.
2. Opportunity to discuss the questions, concerns and use of ArcGIS online in your division.
3. Opportunity to participate in one or more of four 30 minute lessons offered within the day. Each of the topics would be an optional learning experience as you would be welcome to continue with your own chosen learning from item 1.
- create a map presentation
- create a map journal app
- how to locate and bring in online data to your map
- how to collect local data for your map, with or without using GPS
We welcome your suggestions if there is anything else that we need to highlight.
